COVID-19 and the impact on the Gallery sector

A synopsis of the mid-year survey conducted by Art Basel and UBS

Dr. Clare McAndrew, Founder of Arts Economics, provides us with some insights mid way through 2020 on how the pandemic seemed to have impacted the gallery sector in the first part of 2020. In addition, Art Basel/ UBS conducted a survey with high net worth collectors (UK, UK and Hong Kong SAR (China) based) to establish if and how their participation with galleries had changed.

In conclusion, despite resilience in the art market at previous economic or political events, the pandemic seems to present one of its biggest challenges yet.
